Past events
Before Milo&Me became a nonprofit, founder Sophia Seeger organized purple pumpkin stands to raise funds for her community's access to epilepsy resources through the local nonprofit Stamford Education 4 Autism. The concept of purple pumpkins, originally created by Ron Lamontagne and the Epilepsy Foundation, inspired these efforts, and we’re proud to continue this tradition without taking credit for the idea. After three years of hosting these stands, Milo&Me was granted 501(c)(3) status in 2023. Now, our purple pumpkin fundraiser not only supports our organization but has also blossomed into a cherished event in the community!
Pumpkins for A Purpose: Uniting the Stamford Community to Learn More about Epilepsy.
Each year, the Milo&Me team paints vibrant purple pumpkins to raise funds for our mission and other organizations. This month, we’re thrilled to partner with local schools and after-school programs, engaging students in painting these special pumpkins. Through this initiative, students will unleash their creativity while learning about epilepsy and the significance of our purple pumpkins.
We’re excited to announce that Stamford Florists, Eden Farms, Designs By Lee and Trader Joes are sponsoring this innovative project, helping us bring awareness to our community and signifying the strength of community. The beautifully painted pumpkins will be distributed at various Epilepsy events and fall fairs, free of charge, with donations warmly welcomed to support our cause.
Additionally, we aim to create a stunning community display of purple pumpkins, at the Government Center for our epilepsy awareness day on November 13th, to amplify our message even further! Proceeds from the purple pumpkins will directly support the vital work of Milo&Me.
Join us in making a difference and let’s gourd the way for epilepsy awareness this fall!
*We do not take credit for Purple Pumpkins, as their rights are owned by the Epilepsy Foundation, but we enjoy the tradition of spreading awareness by purple pumpkins.*
